Pricing and how it works
As a part of the diagnostic service, we’ll give you our recommendations and a flat-rate quote to repair the appliance.
We charge a $95 diagnostic fee for each appliance we inspect ($125 for built-in or large appliances requiring specialized moving equipment).
If you approve the repair, the diagnostic fee is applied to the total repair cost.
Specialty Rates:
Dishwasher installation: $250
Dryer cleaning service: $185 plus parts
Pricing Notes:
*For service addresses beyond 10 miles from Laramie, a mileage fee of $1.00 per additional mile (both ways) will be charged.
*An extra $45 charge will apply to stacked laundry units that must be unstacked to diagnose or repair.

About us
My name is Sam Rubino, and I started Medicine Bow Appliance Repair LLC because I believe that fixing things is more economical, more convenient, and less wasteful than replacement.
My wife Rhiannan and I are Laramie natives. I graduated from the University of Wyoming with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, and I also possess a professional appliance repair certification through MST.
My goal is to provide quality service in a manner than honors the customer and honors the Lord Jesus. My guiding verse is Ephesians 6:7, which says “With good will render service, as to the Lord, and not to men...” I am delighted to render appliance repair services to the people of Laramie.

Labor rates typically range from $125-$215 for a completed repair (that includes the $95 diagnostic fee). In addition to labor, there are often parts, shipping, and sales tax charges. Labor could be higher for especially complex jobs or unique installations, but $125-$215 plus parts/shipping/taxes covers about 95% of the repairs we do.

To guide customers, we use the following rule of thumb: for a given appliance, we would be comfortable investing what the appliance is currently worth. So if a $1000 washing machine is halfway through its serviceable life, then a repair cost of up to $500 could be justified as a good investment. This is just a general rule of thumb. Maybe you like your older machine and want to keep it running; maybe it has sentimental value; or maybe replacement would be a major hassle due to the installation location. In those cases, we’re certainly willing (and happy) to service older machines subject to overall condition and parts availability.

Most parts come from Denver, CO and arrive next business day. Some come from farther away and arrive within 2-4 business days. If we need to order parts and return for a second trip, we’ll strive to schedule the follow-up trip within 1-4 business days of your initial appointment.

There are many low-quality clone parts available from sites like Amazon and ebay. We don’t use these. Quality repair service means installing quality OEM parts that last. In cases where OEM parts are no longer available, we’re open to installing after-market parts, but only in consultation with the customer.

Not at this time. Proper refrigeration service requires equipment and certifications that we don’t have. We’ll happily refer you to qualified professionals who can handle sealed-system repair.

Generally we do not. Our commercial work is limited to coin-operated washers and dryers designed to be used by tenants in multi-unit housing. Feel free to call us to discuss your specific needs. If we can’t help directly, we’ll happily give you some referrals.
